Indulge a proud Father
« Reply #-1 on: May 22, 2014, 04:39:13 PM »
My 9 year old son is my special buddy. He knows very clear that his dad bleeds red, white, and blue.

When he was a toddler his changing table looked directly out a window at my flag pole. He would look at it and say "night night frag" (yes.....frag)

Anyway, he has been stoked for 2 weeks as the entire 3rd grade was doing the first ever Patriotic Program. He doesn't usually get excited about this stuff, but it was all he talked about.

Program was this afternoon and it was awesome. Singing patriotic songs and reading patriotic poems. And he sung his tail off. I felt like he was singing to me. Then somebody must have started cutting onions :)

Just a great early start to Memorial Day weekend.

I don't always do much right.....but I think I did good with him.

He is on the right. Bad picture :(

The kids at my daughter's elementary school all do the pledge of allegiance in the morning.  The full uncut version.

First time I heard my 5 year old recite the pledge that same onion cutter must have been near me ;)

Looks like you raised a great boy Pappy! I hope I do as good of a job :)

You've  done great!  Without going into all the details of it with my mom passing.  I thought the same, I haven't done much right but my son stepped up and seriously helped out. Almost guarding her at times.. Showing me i had instilled in him some real value! I know your son is on the same track just because of your attitude, your belief in country, family and your desire to raise him right... All that will transfer to him with very little effort.

Stand tall, you have a right to be a proud father!

Every person here made my day.  Funny how a BBQ forum is the first place I want to honor my son and my country.  Thank you all. You have no idea how this made me feel.

Pretty sure Muebe is cutting onions again. ;D
