Limp or Crispy Bacon?
« Reply #-1 on: April 03, 2014, 04:07:00 PM »
In my house of 5 people I am the only one who doesn't like crispy bacon. Since I do the cooking, limp bacon it is!

I won't order a burger with bacon or a BLT at a restaurant cuz I know it will be crispy.

So what say you my LTBBQ brothers and sisters?

I prefer my bacon on the chewy side rather than crisp.  At my age, 'chewy' sounds better than 'limp'  :D :D :D

The only way to do bacon is on the smoker, firm to crispy here ;D

I'm with Pappy. Unfortunately, no one else in my house is. They like their bacon charred and crisp. I think the flavor of a less cooked bacon strip is so much better. When it hits crispy, it loses something (umami?) Nope, when I make bacon on a weekend morning there are two plates - mine (delicious / chewy) and theirs - (crispy / Kingsford.)

Good to be in your company, Pappy!

Pappy,
I'm with you.  When my wife and I took our cruise this past October they served both onboard the ship.  I preferred the "less crispy" bacon.  When  I cook bacon around here, it is my way.

I'm with Pappy and Art.  The Plyable, limp, chewy etc...the better.  I home cure and smoke all my own bacon so I take it to 153 degrees so you can eat it right out of the fridge if you'd like.

I'm with BAM1 - unrendered fat != uncooked. it's just not incinerated.

We are squarely on the un-crisp side.
