The problem wasn't with the 2. 5 inches of snow in Atlanta...it was all the sleet and freezing rain that came before that...the roads were slick as snot.

If you look at the main wrecks sites on I-75, you'll notice it was truckers that jackknifed and blocked the whole interstate...they were headed south from ...where?

Yeah, people aren't used to driving in snow down here, but ICE?

3 years ago we had 6 inches of SNOW and it didn't cause much problem at all, but ICE, sleet, and freezing rain make for really bad conditions...just ask the truckers out there.

Yep they closed down the commissary yesterday at 1:30 and sent everyone home. Sitting at home
again today but will be back to work tomorrow.  I was gonna grill something today but it is way too
cold for these old bones with the wind chill. At least I get paid for sitting at home. Was hoping for
one more day though!  8)

Thanks CDN but us southern folks are fighters and we will see this through, we will not be beaten by this and by Saturday we will be sun bathing again in 70 degree weather again  ??? - only in the sunshine state.  I have a 15K Saturday across two bridges that are closed today due to this weather.

My 26 year old daughter was having so much fun in this and I tried to go along with her but growing up in Buffalo NY this is only a nuisance since we don't have any salt or people that don't know to stay home and not get on the roads.

That poster is made from a "Walking Dead" poster. Today CNN had that Walking Dead poster and next to it a picture taken from the exact spot that the walking dead poster and they basically looked the same except for the guy on the horse.

There is another southern tradition that hasn't been mentioned:  Heading for the grocery store to buy bread and milk when the first snowflake falls!  Stores are overwhelmed the minute the weather bureau announces any snow at all.

Actually, we do pretty well in the snow but (as mentioned) our climate lends itself to frequent ice and sleet instead of snow.  That stuff is bad no matter where you live.

This Polar Vortex thing really sucks  >:(

When snow is forecasted for northern Alabama, we go get beer, cornflakes, and toilet paper. ;D
