Update on my wife
« Reply #-1 on: June 08, 2013, 09:06:21 AM »
Just wanted to post an update and again thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. I am about to leave to pick up Lana from Lakeshore Rehab and bring her home. She has made incredible progress from her stroke in only two week. She was pretty much paralyzed on her left side but now her speech is much better and she can walk with the aid of a cane and has gotten some of the function of her left hand back. It is going to be an adventure in this townhouse with 3 levels but she it a tough old Lady and as long as she has me to fuss at she will be happy.

The only good side to this is maybe now she will let me cook more. About the only time we ever argue is about whose time it is to cook. She loves to cook and is the best cook I have ever known and I have to fight for time for me to cook. Now she will have to put up with my cooking for a while, but I am sure she will be standing over my shoulder telling me how to do everything.

We have some good friends who will be here to help and I also want to tell all of you again how much your prayers and good wishes have meant. She thinks I am crazy for spending the time I do reading all of your posts on here, but it is my time to relax and enjoy seeing how all of you enjoy your free time and your families.

Ken,  I'm so glad to hear she is coming home.  Her progress is measured in small steps and a few big steps and this is one of the bigger ones.  We will keep praying for her.  Dee

Wonderful news, Ken. I am sure with your care and your friends support, she will continue to make progress and be back fighting for cooking rights in no time! Our thoughts and prayers will be with you both.

That is wonderful news. I am absolutely delighted to hear about her progress and how far along that she has come at this stage.

After my stroke, I continued with re-hab which included lots of walking, jogging, and other exercises. This is important because along with the medications that they gave you, she will have to have her blood moving throughout and heart pumping at a good rate. This is very helpful to the recovery process. Drink lots of water.

Again, I am really pleased for you.

Regards,

Ed
