For separating the egg from the white I like the bottle idea.
I have used the bottle method (when I have an empty or almost empty water bottle laying around) it works great. On the other hand, so does the "old fashioned way..."

The 20 or 24 bottle opener would be handy for my wife's softball team - we call them the beer locusts!
