Interesting Looking Line of Grills
« Reply #-1 on: July 22, 2015, 10:46:00 AM »
With the talk of CharBroil grills not being offered at HD, I went on the CB site and saw this link.

www.dancookusa.com

Great designs, could give Weber a run for the money in longevity.....maybe even better built!

This Danish company was purchased by CharBroil in 2011.

It looks like with the Saber line, and - now this...that CharBroil is attempting to take market share from Weber - specifically. These 2 lines really seem to match up visually and design-wise with Weber's offering.

Perhaps the biggest difference is that Weber has great customer service and parts availability is better than anyone else in that market.

It looks to be of a high quality build.....but will that continue?
And I agree Tim in that customer service very well will be an issue. Some companies thrive because of their customer service, while others don't believe in much after the sale is completed.

I don't see them taking Weber down in the least.
And while the Danes most likely had great customer service and a great product, and a typical sleek looking rig...  I don't see CB figuring out CS or maintaining quality any time soon. That was lost to them when the LLC took over.  Its a shame....

I do have to say I really like the looks of these grills. Also, have to admit I am a sucker for Danish design - B&O stereos, Skagen watches, furniture... I really like the minimalist look combined with excellent performance.

Clearly customer support and spare parts, etc. will be a major factor in making a buy decision. It is interesting to see CB take a different road, I hope it will be supported with the "back of house."

Assuming they are successful with support, I would definitely look at one of these if and when I "need" a new grill (yeah the whole need vs. want thing...)

Pit Barrel Cooker, Char Broil Electric Smoker, Charbroil Prototype Kettleman, Char Broil 500X, Blackstone Flat Top, Char-Broil SRG, Weber Performer, ANOVA sous vide device, Lodge Hibachi, Discada, Chimenea, fire pit, hunk of pink salt...

Back in the mid 80' s one of our customers had a B & O stereo system. There were no buttons on it at all.  Completely touch sense with a sleek aqua blue glass top finish. You had to know where to touch it to get it to show the button locations. That may not seem like much, but back then it was a huge deal.  Sound that was outrageously clear. The kind of sound that was clear enough at volume you thought you could talk over it but then realized no one could hear a word...
Could still put most stuff to shame today.
