Jambalaya for a friend.
« Reply #-1 on: July 20, 2014, 01:38:39 PM »
I have a friend that lost his wife unexpectedly, mid 40’s, and we all were taking turns bringing dinners for him and his family. I did mine last Sunday and decided to do some Jambalaya and his mother didn’t like spicy food so I did an extra chicken on the smoker and brought her a smoked breast and grilled vegies.

Pic’s from here on out.

So sorry to hear of your friend's loss.  The jambalaya looks great, and it is a very nice thing for you to do.

Looks extremely tasty RAD! What a nice thing to do for a family that needs a little help to get over the hump of healing. My condolences to your friends' family!  :(

When something like this happens you feel that you need to do something but you don't know what. I know I made way too much food but that was my contribution. He came back to work on Thursday for the first time and I know it was tough. We all tried to make it as normal as possible, but is normal after this.  :(

I agree RAD, when any of our friends have trouble, we have trouble. As a friend we feel we should man the sandbags and keep the water back.                We generally help with food as well, because the last thing anyone who has had shock, and loss, thinks of, it is food. But you know, you got to eat. A nice meal when you're grieving, and going through a lot of emotions, can be a very comforting touch! But truly the best thing is for them to know that you have their backs for anything!
Good luck with your friend and his family RAD!

I may be getting ready to do some cooking for a close friend of my wife's.  She just lost her brother early this morning.

What you did was from the heart.  Nice job, RAD.

RAD that is a great gesture. Time will heal but something like that I imagine you never really fully recover from.

Make yourself available to him in case he just wants to talk. You are a good friend.
