Thank you all for, well, being you.  Please understand that my reaction has similar roots to the original poster's motivation for wanting to express frustration, anger, angst.  My reaction was about what I perceived as a violation of one of my happy places - a food/BBQ oriented site, a bit of a family I do not know personally, but who share the love of cooking, particularly Q.  There are many sites, shows and other media that, as well as the real world around us, that bring forth frustration, fear, upset, anger and divisiveness regardless of which view you have of things.

LetstalkBBQ is a "happy place" for me to vicariously share a joy and passion I have with others who have so much to enrich that part of Life.  So, my reaction was a sense of violation of that.  of course, it is extremely funny, to me, that I did not get bent about the recent thread on a really cool pistol and some firearms.  Why?  Well, this liberal soul owns guns, has made guns and respects them.  Got into them while in 'Nam, and learned to treat them as the tool they are. I live in SoCal, I face a lot of limitations on how and where I can enjoy that aspect.  So, I am no more, no less than the typical, contradictory, complex beings we all are.

So, thank you for bearing with me.  As I mentioned below, it is my choice on what to participate in.  I will endeavor to stay out of those places that are not related to what I come here to enjoy.

Well said! Now, what's cooking? :)

Sschorr,
In case you haven't heard this, "THANK YOU" for your past service in Vietnam. I think you hit the right note when you mentioned fear. Fear causes many emotions. In my case the first reaction is anger. Anger is a hard animal to control. With the uncertainty our country seems to be facing, I am trying my best to keep anger in check. But, like I mentioned in another post, since we're all "fired up" let's BBQ!
