« Reply #-1 on: January 26, 2019, 06:14:15 PM »
I have a foodsaver vacuum sealer. Any suggestions on a good place to buy the rolls of 11" vacuum rolls? I have bought at Academy Sports and Costco. Any other good suggestions?

I hear VacMaster bags are supposed to be good. I'm going to give them a try after my initial supply of Foodsaver bags run out...

I found this LTBBQ post a couple of months ago when I was searching for this same info...

I buy my vac bags on Ebay. My research a couple of years ago showed that Weston bags had the lowest failure rate, so that's what I buy. I only use the rolls anymore when I'm vac-ing something like whole salmon. I get the different sizes that fit whatever I'm freezing. It's a time saver not having to cut and seal twice, especially when doing a seal run of 50+. You can find thicker mil rating on for SV also.

I've started using the pre-cut bags from the webstaurantstore.com a few years ago.

Very happy with them and the price is pretty good.  I bought 4 bags of the gallon, quart, and pint sizes last order so I'm stocked for a while and I got a price break at that level.   Also I generally will do a 2nd seal on the bag about 1/4" outside the first.  Started doing that a long time ago with the rolled bags as occasionally you get a crease that does not 100% seal.  Just kept doing it on the pre-cut bags and not a single seal failure in storage.

I wish I could remember the brand, but I bought some non-FoodSaver brand bags a few years ago and they always lost the vacuum when thawing the food.  So I doubt that they would good for any kind of Sous Vide application.

I have tried different, cheaper bags and have noticed more failure rates. I will be going back to the Weston bags also when these are done

In addition to my previous post re: vac bag tests, FoodSaver bags had one of the highest failure rates.
