There's more than one way to cook
« Reply #-1 on: March 04, 2015, 11:00:41 PM »
Well, that is news to no one, but my neighbor showed me a way that I had never seen today.  He moved to the US from Germany when he was a teenager.  He said this is something you don't see here but it is quite frequently used in Europe.  He went Lowe's and got all the pieces and assembled it.  It breaks down and easily fits in his car and he sometimes carries it to friends houses and cooks for them.  He uses logs, not charcoal.  He said it was a slow way to cook.  Interesting but I think I'll stick with my pellet grill.

I think there should be a pulley up at the top and a chain running down one of the legs.  Instant Santa Maria grill.

Nice lil setup there..I cook over open fire most of the time at the campground, We have a tripod that sits there all the time and use tire rims to hold the wood. Have doen this for 35 years..giving away secrets there, but this is how I learned to cook. Pam .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Campfire cooking... Reminds me of Boy Scouts ! What good times that was!
Pam I like the rims! How long do they usually last before needing replacing?  Couple years?

Terry ..ours are over 35 years old..never replaced them. and had a cut out,  cut out to add wood when cast iron grate is on for cooking. Not aluminum wheels.   .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.
